Dr. Makiko Ono’s paper has been published in the ESMO Journal

Dr. Makiko Ono (The Cancer Institute Hospital of JFCR, Tokyo, Japan), a member of the Program Subcommittee for Education, published a paper titled “Barriers to career development and gender-related challenges in oncology: the results of the JSMO and JSCO surveys in Japan” in ESMO Real World Data and Digital Oncology.

This paper is based on the results of the “Survey on Career Paths and Gender Balance” conducted jointly by the Career Empowerment Committee and Subcommittee for Education in 2024.

The study identified significant gender differences in both the impact of career choices on personal life and the impact of personal life on career. It also showed that women are more likely to perceive barriers in their career paths.

We want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all who participated in the survey.

In connection with this survey, the Career Empowerment Committee offers the Career Consultation Café, a free, members-only service (in Japanese) that provides one-on-one career consultations.
Members can discuss career concerns, organize their thoughts, or seek advice on qualifications with a trained supporter.
